MG Exia Repair Mode

Decided to trade in my old MG Wing Zero Custom for a built MG Exia with clear parts, thou my sole purpose is actually literally destroying the whole kit, as if it looked worn out with war scars: Gundam Exia Repair Mode.

I was actually inspired having seen the MS on the season premiere of Gundam 00 Season 2, a perfect combination of the gundam theme + that semi terminator look=bad ass MS

As seen on Gundam 00 Season 2 - ep1

I'ts actually my first time doing a battle damage kit, thou kinda risky at first I'm having seconds thoughts on messing the kit, then I actually end up researching allot of forums and blogs on how to do a battle damage kits e.g. weathering, scarring, bullet holes etc, I end up seeking the advice of my online pinoy Gunpla guru instead (dunno if I can mention his name here, but he's the pioneers on our group at GPH) Thanks sensei :)

Materials/Paints used are: Soldering Iron, Sets of brush, Hobby knife, Mr.Color - Super Silver, Mr.Hobby - Neutral Gray and Black, a piece of sponge.

Weathering: Did some dry Brushing for the grimy weather effect -1st coat-dry brush with black 2nd is gray via last is metallic silver. Also did the sponge method with the gray and metallic paint.

Bullet holes / Slash Mark: A bit hesitant at first using soldering iron on plastic since it only takes 1. millisecond enough to pierce a hole through the plastic, and it burning plastic smells really bad :| Managed to test it first on a runner just to gauge the right timing on casting a fair bullet hole and slash mark.

Applied minor detailing using a bit of flat white and neutral gray via hand brush, casting that old worn out look,. :)
 Right Leg
Painted with the inner frame with Mr Hobby Super Silver then Sprayed with Bosny Gloss coat.

Head - detailed the the terminator side with dry brushing to achieve that blown effect, also did minor detailing on the inner details of the face part susing Gundam marker silver.

WIP - Gundam Devil 1/144

The ultimate protagonist of the Gundam G Series; Devil Gundam !!! Got this kit a month ago from one of  the group seller in the Philippines, one of the vintage kits from the 90's era, thou Bandai never released a second rendition of this kit, hopefully they'll do it for the 1/60 or 1/72 scale that would be awesome. :)

Devil Gundam 1/144 NG

Took me almost a month to finish this one, color separation is HORRIBLE :| e.g. the red part on the middle of the large vfin area is colored yellow, the chest and the foot part is colored with dull black or navy blue along with the whole leg part. Loads of work to be done >.<

Washing of the runners with dish washing soap

Ever since I encountered problems on paint not adhering properly on the parts, i make it a habit to wash and soak all the runners first before i start to build.

       The sanding process

Sanded the parts to be painted with Grit 800-wet sanding and Grit 1000-dry sanding to create microscopic holes for the paint to adhere on.

Primer Gray-Flat Black-Signal Red- Lemon Yellow- Blue
Bosny Spray Paints to be use (I haven't included the Blue can since i purchased it separately)

And so the local harware hunt begins XD Managed to buy 4 cans on local hardware which only cost 70-80 pesos per can, thou some of the colors were really hard to find, end up buying lemon yellow at Ace. :|

1st phase complete - Primed with bosny primer gray

Leg part painted with Bosny Flat black

Painted the red parts given with Bosny Signal Red

Primed + Painted the yellow tubes given with Bosny Lemon Yellow

Same treatment goes for the foot part and the yellow torso part, thou i did paint first the edge the nails with Signal red, then masked, reprime and repainted with lemon yellow.

So far so good, thou I'm having thoughts on preserving the glossiness given by Signal red

I missed out documenting the flat coat process and the panel lining part, all of the white pats are panel lined with Gundam Marker Black, also did some detailing using Gray Gundam Marker. All pats are then flat coat with Bosny Flat Clear.

Applied the stickers on the 2nd eye part, Painted the base with Gray, masked and painted for the blue and red part.

Arm part - managed to get one of my scrap NG kyrios hands, then painted with Bosny flat black.

Head
Did some panel lining on the mask area, found it really annoying since I have to do the linings on my own :| Also painted the middle of the vfin with flat white bosny.

2nd heads mouth area with the torso

 Leg part

Painted the knees with gray, supposed to paint it white but i messed up the paint with the masking tape :| end up stripping and repainting the whole part.

Shoulder and Back skirt part - panel lined

Foot part - damn i pretty messed up on the left foot :| got exited spraying the yellow paint without re-priming the part after i painted the nail part with red, end up sanding the paint down, but nonetheless managed to get a semi smooth finish.

Encountered troubles on test-fitting the the middle chest part :| Not sure if its the paint made it thick enough not to fit properly, or because of the old mechanism of the kit. Managed to get it thou a portion of the paint was chipped.

I'm almost at 90% done thou I'm thinking of putting some dry transfer decals on the white parts, hopefully ill be at 100% by the end of this week. :) Long built - while on the process the opening song of G Gundam plays on my mind repeatedly. Will post the finished kit soon. :)
